Following an independent review of the Export Controls regime, Manatū Aorere (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade) is likely to be consulting on some proposed changes this month.
Keep an eye out for opportunities to have your say!
What it’s about:
Manatū Aorere administers the Export Controls regime which controls the export of strategic and military end-use goods and technology.
‘Dual-use’ goods that have both military and non-military applications may also fall within the regime.
An effective Export Controls regime contributes to a safe and just world in line with the commitments Aotearoa has made to arms control, disarmament, and human rights and helps us to meet our commitment to being a responsible exporter of these goods.
Note: This is different from the MPI process about regulating food and fibre product exports that is happening now.
